Jessika Edgar

Jessika Edgar is an artist based in Metro Detroit. She has an MFA from Cranbrook Academy of Art and is currently an Assistant Professor of Art and the Area Coordinator of Ceramics at Wayne State University.

Jessika’s artistic expression with the abstract sculptures mixed with other materials, helps to manifest her research and ideas. Jessica’s research focuses on the question of whether ceramics is considered worldwide as a craft or as an art. To emphasize that her works belong in the world of art, as part of contemporary art, Jessika combines clay with other materials, such as fabric, pearls and glitter, to create a contrast between commercially used materials and clay.
