3D Printing Model and Mold-making Workshop

Following on from the success of our 3D Printing workshops in 2016, Guldagergaard is pleased to announce a new workshop for spring of 2017 which takes our 3D Printing workshop from previous years further into exploring the possibilities of how CAD software can be used as an artistic tool in the field of ceramics, with a focus toward the production of plaster molds used for slip casting.
This 4 days workshop is suitable for all levels of experience, where as a participant you will learn the skills to design your own unique models using 3D software Rhino under the guidance of our experienced technician Henrik Troelsen (DK).
Participants will gain a basic level of skill, understanding and independence in using this software and understand how the process of CAD is used not only as a tool but as an artistic approach to ceramic or design work.
With support from our skilled plaster technician Harriet Caslin (UK) participants will then have the opportunity to learn how to make multiple part plaster slip casting moulds of their designed models which have been 3D printed in ABS plastic.
This workshop aims to cover the following areas:
– One to one tuition in a group environment to learn the basic skills in 3D software program Rhino, used to design and create your own 3D models.
– Opportunity to print the models using an ABS plastic 3D printer – Dimension sst 1200es
– Guidance in the production of plaster mould making to then bring the 3D printed models into the field of ceramics to further your project
The Workshop Team will discuss how designing and printing models and work influence the way they think about making and in turn how this helps realize the final outcome.
Cost 3D Printing Model and Mold making Workshop:
Registration: 3,300 Dkr
Student: 2,300 Dkr
Price includes: all plaster materials, recycled clay, studio space rental from 09.00 – 17.00, use of all Guldagergaard equipment, one-on-one tuition and support.
Price does not include accommodation, breakfast, dinner or other living expenses.
Please note: cost does not cover cost of use of ABS 3D printer, which is 3.5 DKK / cm3
