KICK START
YOUR CERAMIC CAREER

Project Network brings together recent ceramics graduates from around the world for six weeks of artistic exploration, exchange and professional development at Guldagergaard.

Designed as a career kickstart, Project Network welcomes emerging artists under the age of 38 who have recently completed a BA, BFA, MA or MFA in art, ceramics or a related discipline.

Two sessions are held each year, with a maximum of ten participants per session.

RELATIONSHIPS
AND COLLABORATION

Established by Guldagergaard more than 20 years ago, the programme promotes dialogue, collaboration and international exchange among a new generation of ceramic artists. It provides a space to explore ideas and approaches that can contribute to the future of ceramics.

At the heart of Project Network are the lasting international connections formed between participants. Alongside the work developed during the residency and the concluding exhibition, these relationships provide a foundation for future exchange and collaboration.

THE PROGRAMME
– DEVELOP YOUR OWN PROJECT

Participants develop their own projects within Guldagergaard’s international studio environment, with access to specialist ceramic facilities and the opportunity to take part in wood-firings.

Each participant receives individual feedback on their project from keynote artist Caroline Slotte. All participants are also asked to introduce their work in a slide presentation, creating a starting point for discussion and exchange within the group.

The programme includes opportunities to visit Danish ceramic studios, museums and galleries, offering insight into different artistic practices and professional contexts.

Participants also take part in an individual photography session with photographer Ole Akhøj, and their work is presented in a concluding group exhibition and a shared catalogue.

KEYNOTE
AND GUEST ARTISTS

Guest artists are invited to give artist talks, either online or in person, introducing participants to different approaches to contemporary ceramic practice.

This programme’s keynote artist, Caroline Slotte from Finland, visits Guldagergaard to give an artist talk and individual, in-person feedback on each participant’s project.

Danish photographer Ole Akhøj has worked with Project Network for many years and photographs participants’ artwork for the catalogue. Each participant has an individual two-hour session with Ole, combining photography of their work with practical instruction on how to photograph ceramics.

CAROLINE SLOTTE
(FINLAND)

Caroline Slotte is a Finnish artist whose practice explores the transformation of found objects, particularly ceramic objects. Through drilling, grinding and sandblasting, she alters familiar surfaces to reveal new details and possibilities.

She holds an MA in Ceramic Art and a PhD in Artistic Research and was Professor of Ceramic Art at the Oslo National Academy of the Arts from 2017 to 2022. Her work is held in major public collections, including the Museum of Modern Art in New York and the Victoria and Albert Museum in London.

OLE AKHØJ
(DENMARK)

Ole Akhøj is a Danish photographer with extensive experience photographing art, craft, design and architecture. Since establishing his own studio in 1978, he has worked with museums, artists, craftspeople, designers and architects.

His photographs have appeared in numerous exhibition catalogues and books. Through his longstanding collaboration with Project Network, he helps participants document their ceramics and develop their understanding of how to present their work through photography.

EXHIBITION
& CATALOGUE

The programme concludes with a group exhibition presenting participants’ work.

A catalogue is produced for each Project Network session, featuring all participants and professional photographs of their artwork taken by Ole Akhøj. Each participant receives eight copies, with additional copies available to purchase.
