LINDA BLOOMFIELD AND LINDA SWANSON: THE CHEMISTRY AND CRAFTING OF CERAMICS THROUGH CLAY AND GLAZE

We’re excited to welcome back Linda Bloomfield (UK) and Linda Swanson (CA) to Guldagergaard for a unique joint workshop on the chemistry and crafting of ceramic glazes.
Over four days, participants will delve into glaze composition, exploring local and recycled materials. The workshop will focus on clay and slip creation for two days, followed by two days on glaze development, with one or two firings. Participants will test their glazes, receiving feedback to refine their understanding.
Linda Bloomfield, an accomplished potter, designer, and author, specializes in porcelain and has over 20 years of experience in ceramics. Known for her expertise in glazes, she shares her knowledge through books, articles, and courses.
Linda Swanson’s work explores the transformative properties of ceramic materials. An award-winning artist, she has exhibited internationally, with recent shows in Paris, Bucharest, and Chicago. Swanson also teaches ceramics at Concordia University, Montreal.

Meals and Drinks:
Breakfast(The first day) and lunch(All days) is included. Participants are otherwise responsible for providing their own meals. You are welcome to use the communal kitchen in the manor house. During the workshop, we will also provide coffee and tea.
Accommodation during the Workshop:
Unfortunately, it is not possible to stay at Guldagergaard. However, we refer you to Hotel Postgården or Kaptajnhuset.
Add on: Short-term Residency Option
Guldagergaard offers workshop participants the option to book a one or two-week residency before the workshop for an additional fee of 2500 DKK. This price includes access to studio facilities and accommodation for one week. It does not cover additional firings and materials.
Please note: Participants are expected to bring their own ventilated respirator mask.
